  • Robin Ellison wins national amateur photography contest

    16 year old Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio School student Robin Ellison has won a national amateur photography contest for the second year running. Robin scooped the British Rally Championship Amateur Photographer of the Year Award with this superb shot of Welsh driver Osian Pryce skidding round a corner.

  • Entrepreneur of the Year

    Brighton Aldridge Community Academy 6th Form student Shaun Page was presented with the Academy’s award for Entrepreneur of the Year at a special awards evening. He consistently demonstrated each of the six entrepreneurial attributes the award stands for throughout lessons, in working with and helping other students and as a member of the Aldridge Cricket Academy.

  • Argus Youth In Action Awards

    Brighton and Portslade Academy students and teachers were collectively nominated for 10 awards over 8 catagories at the Brighton Argus newspaper Youth In Action Awards, winning 5! Fantastic news and a massive congratulations to everyone nominated.

  • Travis swims a mile for African project

    DACA deputy head boy Travis Frain swam a mile in Windermere to raise cash for a project in Africa. Every year, a group of staff and pupils from DACA go to Uganda for the Afri-DACA project, which helps children in the poverty-stricken region. Travis trained twice a week by swimming a mile in Salford Quays, in temperatures of about 12 degrees Celsius, to prepare himself.

  • BACA wins at the Young Enterprise Awards

    A group of Sixth Form students from Brighton Aldridge Community Academy are celebrating after winning Best Product at the Young Enterprise Awards.The team, represented at the ceremony by Connor Daly, Alexander Van Oers and Kynan Kelly, secured the accolade for their sterling work in developing VPODS, a growing business that’s an outstanding learning resource for students. The group were also named runners-up in the Best Business Performance category.

  • BACA achieves Educational Outcomes Award

    Brighton Aldridge Community Academy has achieved the 2014 Educational Outcomes Award, awarded by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) in recognition of their outstanding student progress at GCSE. This is the second year in a row BACA has received the award.

  • Selected to represent England

  • Champions of the Sussex

    Portslade Aldridge Community Academy are Champions of the Sussex Indoor U13 Cricket Tournament, winning the final held at the Sussex County Cricket Club indoor school. Congratulations to the whole squad: Kyle Budd, Regan Dunk, Lewis Shepherd, William Holding, Guolin Yang, Oscar Pettit and Archie Kirk.

    For the second successive year at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy there is Oxbridge success, as Sixth Former Tamara Newton has been given an unconditional offer to study Fine Art at St Edmund Hall College, University of Oxford.
