Andrew has over thirty years’ experience in the management and strategic development of large educational estates. He comes from an engineering background and gained his experience across universities, colleges and schools, liaising with various government departments, local authorities and industry professionals.
He was part of a team that grew and developed one of the largest national multi-academy trusts (MATs) ensuring that appropriate processes, procedures and policies were in place. He nurtured professional relationships and connections to allow the MAT to take full advantage of available schemes and influenced Department for Education (DfE) thinking and understanding of a MAT’s needs.
He is a founder member of the Trust Network, a steering group initiated and then funded by the Department for Education to advise other trusts on the development of their strategic estate plans. He played a lead role in the pilot for the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund (ACMF) which then developed into School Condition Allocation.
Andrew has managed numerous multi-million pound capital build projects as well as major publicly funded capital maintenance and priority school building programmes, leading teams of architects, surveyors and engineers to ensure that the estate is compliant, economical and sustainable.
