Dave is a serving National Leader of Education and our Academic Partner in the North West. He started his first headship in Manchester in 1989 in a school which was awarded Beacon status in 2000 and also secured Leading Edge status.
He moved to St Mary’s High School in 2001, and stayed until 2011, seeing the school through 2 Good and a final Outstanding inspection. The school secured national teaching school Designate status in 2010.
Dave was appointed as a consultant headteacher on the DfE Kingsdown project from 2000 to 2003. He was one of three lead headteachers supporting the Kingsdown Education improvement Partnership in Wigan LA from 2005, with responsibility for QA across the Graduate Teacher Programme, presently judged outstanding by Ofsted. He was seconded to the DfE whilst a serving head (0.4 FTE) from 2006 to 2011 supporting the work of the Academies division.
Dave has significant experience in assessing new school bids for the DfE and in supporting successful schools through the implementation and post-opening. As a consultant he has provided support and challenge for a large number of academies operating below floor targets. Since 2014 Dave has also worked closely providing educational guidance to Paul Smith, RSC in Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
