In June 2015 the Governors at Portslade Aldridge Community Academy  announced the appointment of Katie Scott as the new Principal at PACA, in succession to Peter Marchant.

Katie, who lives in Brighton with her young daughter, joined from  Sir Robert Woodard Academy in Lancing where she was Vice Principal. She had been a member of senior leadership teams in schools in London and Sussex for the  ten years prior to her appointment.

Zenna Atkins, Chair of Governors, said “Katie had very tough competition for the position and the board of governors felt that the combination of her skills, education vision and dedication to pupils put her ahead of the pack. We are delighted to welcome her to the academy and look forward to working with her for many years to come.”

On her appointment Katie said, ‘I am tremendously excited to become the Principal of PACA. I am very much looking forward to working with the young people of Portslade, and their families, to create the outstanding school that they deserve. I consider it a privilege and an honour to be given the opportunity to contribute to the city I love.’

The Parents’ Association and parent governors were directly involved in the appointment of Ms Scott and aside from her impressive educational credentials, found her to be a warm and caring individual. They also regarded Katie as someone who is clearly very committed to the children of Portslade and to providing them with an outstanding education in a safe, caring and nurturing school.

Katie took up her role in September 2015.
