The Aldridge Cricket Academy, a partnership between the Aldridge Foundation, the Sussex Cricket Board and Sussex County Cricket Club, is holding trials for entry onto its new sixth form courses on March 25th at The County Ground in Hove.

The Foundation launched the Cricket Academy with BACA and PACA last year, under the guidance of former Sussex and England star James Kirtley. Sussex Cricket Board’s Adam Newman, a Level 3 England and Wales Cricket Board qualified Head Coach and Sussex Premier League player, leads the intensive cricket coaching programmes, which are integrated with A Level studies at the academy sixth forms. The aim is to give students the chance to develop their sporting talent and academic qualifications together, rather than having to choose between the two, or having the stress of dealing with conflicting training and college work schedules.

It is hoped that the courses will appeal not only to students who want to play high level cricket, but also those aiming to build a career in cricket coaching, sports science, psychology, management or teaching following University, or go into a sports related business.

The trials are running from 1pm – 4pm in the indoor nets at the County Ground. Students wishing to join the course from September need to have successfully completed the trial as well as achieving the required GCSE grades this summer. Head coach Adam Newman said: “Our open evening in January attracted lots of interest. We had a packed house on the day with boys and girls and their parents travelling from as far away as Hastings, Chichester and Uckfield to attend. The trials will be friendly and informal, giving everyone a chance to show their potential. We will also have teachers on hand to answer any questions about the courses that parents may have.”

Anyone wishing to attend the trials, or find out more about the ACA’s sixth form courses, should contact Adam Newman by calling 01273 691191 extension 2048 or . More information is available online at
