Brighton Aldridge Community Academy was voted Most Improved School of the Year at The Brighton Argus Newspaper’s Youth in Action Education Awards.
The Youth in Action Education Awards ceremony took place at the American Express Community Stadium on Sunday 8 June. They recognise and celebrate achievement in schools in the daily papers circuation area across Sussex.
Out of 17 award categories the Academy not only won the Most Improved School award, but the excellence of its teaching staff that has been at the heart of the school more than doubling the number of students achieving 5 or more GCSEs at A*- C grade, including English and Maths in the three years since converting to Academy status results in 3 other award wins on the day:
Teaching Assistant of the Year – Mr Hurcomb
Teacher of the Year – Mr Townsend
Outstanding Contribution to Education in Sussex Star Award – Ms Congreve
In accepting the overall school award Headteacher Dylan Davies said: “This is an amazing recognition for our school and I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
“I work with a great team of teachers, brilliant students, great community – this is really, really good and I’m so glad we’ve been recognised with this award.”
