Brent Thomas, Chair of Aldridge Education’s Board of Trustees, thanked Mike Blakey who has announced he is standing down from the Board.
Mike, also formerly the Chair of Governors at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, and is a specialist children’s services adviser and former Ofsted inspector of teacher training, schools and children’s centres.
Brent said: “We would like to express our thanks to Mike Blakey who is stepping back as a Trustee of Aldridge Education. Mike has been a trustee from the inception of the MAT and has provided us with the benefit of his knowledge and experience of safeguarding, inspections and the need to put the interests of the child at the heart and centre of everything we do. In addition, he has been a great person to have on our Board. He is always thoughtful and considered, and he has a wry sense of humour!
We wish Mike every success in the new role he has taken on with NFA Group.
Mike Blakey said: “It is with some sadness that I have made the difficult decision to step down from the board. Last summer I joined NFA Group as the Executive Director responsible for Quality and Compliance. The Group is the largest independent provider of children’s services in the UK with over 5000 vulnerable children in our care. One of our subsidiaries, Acorn Care and Education, is the sponsor of the most successful AP MAT in England and I have taken up the role of sponsor Trustee.”
“I am also the leader of one of the UK’s busiest mountain rescue teams and I need to balance both my volunteering and potential professional conflicts carefully. I wish Aldridge Education well for the future and hope that our relationships will continue. It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the journey to establish a nationwide MAT.”
