Jane Fletcher Joins As New Chief Executive

Date: May 9th 2019

Jane Fletcher has joined Aldridge Education multi-academy trust as its new Chief Executive.

Jane was formerly the Ark Regional Director for South London and the South Coast, and has extensive experience in education, having qualified as a teacher in the mid-1990s. Starting as a music teacher, Jane rose progressively through a range of posts in a Bedfordshire school before moving on to senior leadership and her first headship, also in Bedfordshire.

Following further posts as Principal and then Executive Principal in the Harris Federation, Jane moved to Ark in 2016.

Aldridge Education has clusters of schools in the North West, London and Brighton with students at primary, secondary and sixth form levels. The schools share a focus on developing enterprising skills and an entrepreneurial mindset alongside academic achievement.

The first Aldridge academy, at Darwen in Lancashire, recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and was last year named in the top 10% of A-Level providers in the country. The Aldridge family of schools also includes a UTC, at MediaCity in Salford, a Studio School, in Darwen, and Kensington Aldridge Academy, beside the Grenfell Tower in London.

Jane said: “I am very excited to be joining Aldridge Education, an organisation which is passionate about preparing young people, whatever their background, to succeed in education and in the world of work.

The Board demonstrates a strong desire to ensure that every Aldridge student achieves academically and that strong outcomes, combined with a focus on the development of enterprising skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, equip them to be ready for next steps beyond the age of 18.

I want to create an organisation that learns from the best and where our standard is excellence. To ensure that our schools receive strong support from our central team and that they support and learn from each other. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues in the Aldridge family and working with them.”
