Kensington Aldridge Academy’s choir is the focus of a new documentary with Gareth Malone being broadcast by the BBC this month.
This series came about because KAA were keen to mark the return to their original building with a special homecoming performance, and David Benson invited Gareth Malone in to help. KAA had lost five students in the Grenfell fire tragedy, the school had been forced to move in the aftermath and it had been an incredibly tough period for everyone involved. David and his team wanted to create a performance to lift everyone’s spirits, and to recognise the strength, resilience and enormous potential of their students.
KAA is a performing and creative arts specialist school and these subjects are a valuable part of culture and ethos of the Academy.
A new series of #TheChoir documenting @GarethMalone’s work with our wonderful students at KAA airs this Monday 11th March at 9pm on @BBCTwo. Episode two on Monday 18th March at 9pm #TheChoirKAA #ChoirKAA #performingarts @TwentyTwentyTV pic.twitter.com/ftuga1ZWpX
