Jane is currently the Ark Regional Director for South London and the South Coast, overseeing and supporting a group of 11 schools. She has extensive experience in education and qualified as a teacher in the mid-1990s. Starting as a Music teacher, Jane rose progressively through a range of posts in a Bedfordshire school before moving on to senior leadership and her first headship, also in Bedfordshire. Success in that role led to a secondment as Executive Headteacher at a neighbouring school.
Jane left Bedfordshire to move to London and take up post as Principal and then Executive Principal in the Harris Federation. During her tenure, Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich was placed for six years consecutively in the top 3% of schools nationally for pupil progress and was 8th in the country for progress when she left. During this period, Jane also worked as an Ofsted inspector for several years.
In 2016, Jane moved to Ark where she took up her current post as Regional Director. Covering a wide geographical area and a diverse group of schools, Jane has provided both support and challenge across her region.
Brent Thomas said: “Jane came through a thorough and extensive selection process. She was a stand out candidate and we are delighted she will be joining us from 1st May 2019. In the interim, Richard Bassett will continue as Chief Executive. I am sure that the excellent work which Richard has started will be given further impetus when Jane arrives.”
On her appointment Jane said: “I am very excited to be joining Aldridge Education, an organisation which is passionate about preparing young people, whatever their background, to succeed in education and in the world of work.
The Board demonstrate a strong desire to ensure that every Aldridge student achieves academically and that strong outcomes, combined with a focus on the development of enterprising skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, equip them to be ready for next steps beyond the age of 18. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues in the Aldridge family and working with them to support and lead this work”.
