Honor Wilson-Fletcher MBE, who joined the Aldridge Foundation as our first Chief Executive in 2010, will be leaving at the end of January to take up a new role with The British Exploring Society.
The Foundation when Honor joined was a small education charity supporting one open school. In six years we have grown into a national Academy sponsor with a dedicated team of academic partners who have impeccable credentials and strong links to the Department for Education, alongside governance, business and finance development, capital projects, and communications professionals supporting a family of 12 schools and colleges.
Prior to joining the Foundation Honor was Strategic Development Director at the National Literacy Trust, of which she continues to be a trustee, and held senior roles at Waterstones, the British Museum and the Southbank Centre.
Honor said: “I have had the tremendous good fortune to learn from our principals, students, governors, partners, Foundation colleagues and from Rod himself, as we have built an entrepreneurial charity with enormous ambition and a commitment to changing lives. I hope I will take everything I have learned from my colleagues into my next job – which I am now very excited about starting. I hope to see Aldridge students on British Exploring expeditions in future, where I have no doubt they will excel, and where they will have the chance to develop their leadership, science, communication and life skills even further.”
Sir Rod said: “I would like to thank Honor for everything that she has done to build the Foundation’s family of academies and colleges over the past 6 years. I feel that we have achieved so much together, and Honor leaves us well positioned for the next phase of our development. The Foundation’s focus is now on accelerating school improvement and educational transformation for our students, along with growing our network of academies and colleges.”
“The search for Honor’s replacement is underway and our Deputy CEO, Beki Martin, has agreed to step up to the role of Interim Chief Executive to ensure a smooth transition.”
“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank Honor for her enormous contribution to our work.”
