Statement Regarding Kensington Aldridge Academy and Grenfell Tower

Date: June 21st 2017

Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower, the normal Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA) building remains closed while the extent of the damage to the surrounding site is assessed. The staff at KAA have worked tirelessly over the last few days to support our students and ensure their wellbeing as well as finding alternative arrangements to provide a safe place for them to continue with their studies and to be supported by friends and staff.

For the immediate future, KAA is holding its classes at Burlington Danes Academy and Latymer Upper School. Aldridge Education is very grateful for all the help from its colleagues at these schools and for their care and support. For more detail about lesson locations please see the KAA website www.kensingtonaldridgeacademy.co.uk

We are incredibly proud of the response and resilience shown by the students and staff at KAA throughout this terrible event – not least the AS students who have sat their exams during such a difficult time. KAA has put in place a highly qualified team of counsellors, through Place2Be and RBKC, who will be working full time with the staff to help students, offering counselling and emotional support.

Our thoughts continue to be with the staff, students and all those impacted by this terrible event.
