UTC@MediaCityUK’s Chair of Governors Graham Cowley has confirmed the appointment of Ruth Bradbury as the University Technical College’s new Principal. Ms Bradbury, Principal of Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio school from its opening in 2013, was seconded to the UTC in the autumn as Interim Principal and has led the college for most of this academic year.
UTC@MediaCityUK is a technical and creative college for 14-18 year olds based in the heart of MediaCityUK, Salford. Students develop qualifications and skills in TV and film production, game design, digital publishing, graphic design or photography through academic studies and by working on projects with a large variety of media professionals in the local area.
The UTC is sponsored by Aldridge Education, the University of Salford and the Lowry.
Graham Cowley said: “Working with Ruth in an interim capacity over the past six months has been stimulating and inspirational. She is an experienced Principal who has brought renewed energy and focus to the College that will create an exciting and successful future benefitting all our students. I am delighted she has accepted the role on a permanent basis.”

When I joined on an interim basis I was immediately struck by the perfect location, the enthusiasm of the students and staff, and the quality and scope of the facilities and industry links.
