Sudell Primary School

Sudell is a 4-11 Primary School currently with approximately 200 pupils on roll.

It was built in 1909 and has had an important role in the local community over the years.

A significant refurbishment was recently undertaken to further develop the learning environment and in December 2017 new Principal Helena Lewis, an experienced and successful Head teacher who was previously Head of Primary at Abraham Moss Community School in Manchester, was appointed.

In autumn 2014 Governors approached Aldridge Education to become sponsors of the school. Following a consultation process with parents and staff the Department for Education confirmed Sudell Primary School’s conversion to academy status from March 2015.

The school’s vision is to be a supportive community of children, staff and parents, working together to ensure that Sudell is a nurturing environment where pupils can achieve their potential and become happy, resilient learners. Staff work closely with parents to teach children to be confident, co-operative and responsible individuals - preparing them for the next steps in their learning journey.

In 2018 Ofsted rated the school as Requires Improvement with Good Early Years Provision.

In 2019 the school’s Combined SATs result was 7.2% above the national average, with its maths result (94%) 15% above the national average. The combined average percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard across reading, writing and maths in their SATs exams was 7% above national average.
